Cook – Part-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and hardworking Cook to join our team. The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing, and high-quality meals while following established menus, dietary requirements, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, takes pride in their work, and is committed to providing excellent meals and service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
• Ensure meals are prepared on time and served at the appropriate temperature.
• Follow special dietary requirements, food allergies, and texture modifications as directed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Properly store, label, date, and rotate food products.
• Monitor food inventory and notify the supervisor when supplies are needed.
• Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality and portions.
• Assist with meal service, including plating and serving meals as needed.
• Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and kitchen areas.
• Follow proper procedures for handling and storing food.
• Work cooperatively with dietary, housekeeping, caregiving, and other staff members.
• Provide courteous and respectful service to residents, guests, and coworkers.
• Assist with special events, holidays, and other meal-related functions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or dietary manager.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking or food-service experience preferred.
• Experience in senior living, healthcare, assisted living, or institutional food service is a plus.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary instructions.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food-handler certification or ServSafe certification preferred, depending on applicable requirements.

Schedule

Full-Time: Approximately 40 hours per week.

The schedule may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the facility.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry food supplies, equipment, and kitchen items.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull as needed.
• Ability to work safely around hot surfaces, cooking equipment, and kitchen utensils.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks associated with food preparation and cleaning.
