Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Must have strong ownership, attention to detail and collaboration skills
- The role will be 20% leading the mechanical team w/ one to two direct reports and 80% individual contributor work
- Own internal standards for piping specifications and maintain instruments, piping and mechanical details
- Current on Industry Standards - TEMA, ASME, ASTM, API and NFPA
- Lead, create, modify and/or maintain complex design files (3D & 2D) using CAD to 3D model, analyze and document client engineering packages
- Act as liaison with external vendors to support internal specifications
- Perform P&ID updates in AutoCAD
- Smart P&ID database knowledge and functionality for integration
- Strong understanding of interpreting PFD’s, P&ID’s, and GA drawings
- Review and approve vendor fabrication packages, drawings and data sheets
- Perform hydraulic calculations for line sizing, pump specification, vendor pump selection and other rotating equipment. Understanding of control valves and instrumentation.
- Practical knowledge of process equipment – piping, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, columns
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Other degrees will be considered pending prior experience.
- Experience: Ideal candidate will have 10 years of related experience in mechanical design or a manufacturing environment (turnarounds, projects, or equipment procurement /review)
- Technical Skills:
o Knowledge of P&ID development
o Fluency with AutoCAD – Plant 3D, P&ID updates, 2D Drawing creation
o Excel in the fundamentals of hydraulics and rotating equipment sizing (various types of pumps, blowers, vacuum pumps)
o Proficiency in TEMA, API standards, ASME VIII and ASTM
o Experience executing capital projects or site modifications for the chemical or biofuel industry.
- Working knowledge of the following Software:
o AutoCAD – P&IDs, Drawings, Plant 3D
o Navisworks 3D Viewer
o Bluebeam
o Pump sizing software – Goulds or Sulzer
o Fisher Spec Manager and Control Valve Sizing
o Microsoft suite of products, specifically Excel and VBA
- Licensure: FE or PE preferred but not required
