Our Engineering team is growing! We are seeking a former Process Engineer passionate about Instrumentation and Controls, Instrument Technician, or Controls Specialist for project process design. This is a key role at KATZEN that will align you with experienced project engineers. Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering documentation with the Project Manager for deliverables related to instrumentation, control valves, control logic and graphic screens
  • Execute project engineering tasks at a high level of quality and within the project guidelines and timing constraints
  • Develop appropriate specification sheets and selection of instrumentation / control valves for new plants
  • Maintain industry and internal standards related to the selections of process instrumentation and controls 
  • Potential travel of up to three months per year could be expected, particularly in plant start-up years. Must be willing to travel to foreign countries and potentially be away for periods up to four weeks.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering background or relevant experience
  • Experience: 4 years of experience as an instrumentation and controls engineer for capital projects or manufacturing, process engineer with instrumentation experience or an instrument technician


  • Qualifications:

o  Must possess strong people skills and collaboration

o  Strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving and organizational skills

o  Instrumentation skills including: reading or developing P&IDs, instrument selection and specifications, control valve and primary element sizing, location plans and installation details, and interconnection and wiring diagrams

o  Must have the practical application of instrumentation and controls engineering as it relates to client operations

o  Working knowledge of PLC, Distributed Control System interface

o  Can independently lead design activities for instrumentation identification and coordinate with the multi-discipline engineering team

o  Field experience for commissioning and troubleshooting instrumentation

o  Experience in design, testing and startup of industrial process automation systems and previously performed FAT testing

o  Lead development and implementation of standard specifications for instrumentation and control systems.


  • Preferred Software and Instrumentation Manufacturer Experience:

o  Chemical or similar simulation software, Microsoft products, Bluebeam (or PDF equivalent for drawing markups), Fisher Specification Manager, Emerson sizing software,

o  Manufacturers - Yokogawa, Allen-Bradley, Endress Hauser & Vega. Foxborough, Honeywell or equivalent DCS experience.
