Compounding pharmacy technician

Company Description Katy Medical Complex Pharmacy, founded in 2004, is an independent pharmacy serving the Katy and Houston, TX communities with both traditional pharmaceutical care and integrative health solutions. The pharmacy leverages modern technology, including virtual appointments, electronic medication administration records (eMAR), and online prescription services to improve accessibility and convenience. The team partners closely with long-term care facilities, nursing homes, primary care providers, and mental health facilities to support diverse patient needs. Licensed pharmacists, certified pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy managers collaborate with virtual physician consultants to provide tailored medication solutions. Through patient education and community health and wellness programs, the pharmacy promotes inclusive, simplified medication management and better overall health outcomes.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Compounding Pharmacy Technician role based in Katy, TX. The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications according to established formulas, pharmacy policies, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include accurately measuring, mixing, labeling, and packaging medications; maintaining detailed compounding logs and electronic records; and verifying lot numbers, expiration dates, and beyond-use dates. The role also involves managing inventory of compounding supplies and ingredients, assisting with prescription processing and refill requests, and supporting pharmacists with quality assurance checks. The technician will help maintain a clean, organized, and compliant compounding environment, follow infection control and safety protocols, and provide courteous, professional support to patients, caregivers, and healthcare partners.

Qualifications

• Registered or licensed Pharmacy Technician in the state of Texas; national certification (CPhT) preferred.
• Previous experience in sterile and/or non-sterile compounding in a retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy setting strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow detailed formulas, standard operating procedures, and USP (e.g., <797>, <795>) guidelines for compounding.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy in measurements and calculations, and commitment to medication safety and quality control.
• Comfort with pharmacy software systems, electronic medication administration records (eMAR), and basic computer skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and healthcare providers.Abili

Compensation $22-$24 per hour
