Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma, or GED
Five years of experience in the HVAC industry
Five years of experience with computer-based automation systems
Basic knowledge of Commissioning processes and Commissioning process delivery
Basic understanding of School District HVAC, Lighting, and Controls (preferred) Excellent organizational skills, communication and time management skills Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work in a team environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work within deadlines, manage frequent interruptions and multitask
Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, contract entities, governmental agencies, and district staff
Proficient with or able to quickly learn systems and software used by the district
Proficient in using Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Primary Purpose:
Provide continuous support, analysis, auditing, and commissioning of building automation systems for the Director of Controls & Commissioning and department staff.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the Automation Systems for compliance, correctness, and completeness.
- Work includes technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair associated with installed building automation
- Supports troubleshooting and resolution of inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of
- BAS end devices – confirm that all BAS end devices, including sensors, actuators, start/stops, and speed controller, are reading consistently correctly with physical field operations.
- Performs night and weekend audits of the buildings for systems operating outside of parameters as necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as
- Performs operational testing, verification, and acceptance providing reports to review system
- Performs the verification of the system database and programming, ensuring consistency with the engineered sequence of operations.
- Performs basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and completes all required commissioning
- Coordinates with the appropriate departments regarding repairs of any issues
- Assist in coordinating activities relating to departmental and/or BAS work
- Support HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical assistance and offering

Equipment Used:
Laptop computers, printers, general hand tools, commissioning test equipment, data loggers, digital voltmeters, and ladders. Follow blueprints or engineering specifications to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work within deadlines and handle frequent interruptions. Ability to handle busy times of communication. Maintain emotional control under stress. Working off ladders. Prolonged use of the computer. District-wide travel; prolonged and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and shift changes as needed. May be required to assist other departments.
