Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma or GED
Texas driver’s license
Five years’ experience related to HVAC industry
Five years’ experience in computer-based automation systems
Basic knowledge of commissioning process and delivery
Understanding of HVAC, lighting and controls within school district (preferred)
Ability to read blueprints or engineering specifications to install, diagnose, repair and program BAS equipment
Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
Strong interpersonal abilities with a proven track record of effective teamwork
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in using or ability to learn district specific systems and software
Skilled in use of Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work within deadlines and handle frequent interruptions
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Fluent in written and verbal English
Primary Purpose:
Prioritize the inspection and maintenance of district-wide HVAC low-voltage equipment to create a safe and comfortable environment for students, staff and community members.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Practice all safety regulations related to trade.
- Lead the low-voltage department to guarantee the district automation systems meet regulatory standards and operate seamlessly and reliably.
- Manage activities related to department and/or BAS work orders.
- Provide technical assistance conducting system checkout for both new and existing installations, troubleshooting issues and performing maintenance and repairs on installed building automation systems.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of any inconsistencies in system functions or sequences of operations.
- Ensure all building automation systems (BAS) end devices, including sensors, actuations, start/stop controls and speed controllers are reading accurately and consistently with physical field operations.
- Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements and modifications as needed.
- Conduct operational testing, verification and acceptance and provide reports to review system operations.
- Verify the system database and programming to ensure consistency with the engineered sequence of operations.
- Perform basic system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (sensors, actuators, etc.,) and complete all required documentation.
- Coordinate with relevant department regarding repairs for any identified issues.
- Support HVAC field technicians by providing technical assistance and guidance.
- Assist with Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) program as needed.
- Maintain inventory and supplies related to department.
- Respond to emergency repairs immediately and report to appropriate personnel.
- Manage and address district-wide hot and cold calls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Laptop, Printers, general hand tools, commissioning testing equipment, data loggers, digital voltmeters, ladders.
Working Conditions:
Ability to maintain emotional control and stress and adapt to challenging environments. Frequent district wide travel. May be required to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and shift changes as needed.
