Reports To: Principal
Duty Days: 187 Days
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: IS03
Qualifications:
Fluent in both oral and written English and Spanish
High school diploma or GED required
Title I campus: 48 college hours required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
Ability to work with students and teachers
Ability to manage a flexible schedule
School office experience or volunteer experience preferred
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work within deadlines
Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed
Primary Purpose:
Provide assistance in classroom as directed by teacher(s)
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to pre-kindergarten programs.
- Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
- Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
- Assist in maintaining student records and audit folders.
- Assist in preparation, use, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
- Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills.
- Assist in the teaching/learning process of working with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce skills as directed by the teacher.
- Attend professional meetings as required.
- Ability to assist in administering and scoring objective assessment instruments.
- Ability to maintain flexibility in the performance of required duties.
- Ability to place district goals above personal goals.
- Ability to establish a positive working relationship with other ESL/bilingual and regular education personnel.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Moderate lifting, standing, stooping, and bending.
