Farm Hand/Laborer

Job Overview
Looking for a farmhand to feed and check on animals at farm. Needing some extra hand to maintain the property and make sure all animals are healthy and well kept.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily care and handling of farm animals, including feeding, watering, grooming, and health monitoring.
• Operate heavy machinery and farm equipment such as tractors, forklifts, irrigation systems, and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm machinery, equipment, fencing, and structures using hand tools, welding techniques, and basic mechanical knowledge.
• Support planting, harvesting, greenhouse management, and crop cultivation activities with attention to horticulture practices and growing experience.
• Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across fields and greenhouses while adhering to best practices in agriculture.
• Supervise or assist with other farm workers or seasonal staff during busy periods or special projects.
• Handle animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, administering basic veterinary care, and ensuring overall animal well-being.
• Maintain accurate records of animal health, equipment maintenance schedules, crop progress, and safety inspections.
• Follow safety protocols during heavy lifting, equipment operation, welding tasks, or when working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Support the implementation of sustainable farming practices that promote environmental stewardship and productivity.

Requirements

• Proven experience supervising or leading teams on a farm or agricultural setting is preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with animal husbandry and animal handling techniques across various species is essential.
• Ability to operate forklifts, heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, and irrigation systems safely.
• Knowledge of horticulture practices including greenhouse management and crop growing techniques.
• Familiarity with welding processes for equipment repair or structural work on the farm.
• Strong understanding of farming operations including planting cycles, harvesting procedures, and soil management.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to feed rations or irrigation needs.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting regularly and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent attention to detail combined with good communication skills for record keeping and team coordination.
