A unique live-in residential training opportunity is available for a dependable, compassionate person interested in learning how to support an older adult while developing skills that may lead to a future career as a California RCFE Administrator.
No previous professional experience is required. I am specifically interested in finding someone a mature female that is patient, reliable, has good judgment, and a willingness to learn. Life experience and character are more important than having worked in this field before.
You will initially assist one friendly 79-year-old woman with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) in a quiet private residence. She uses a wheelchair and needs hands-on assistance with daily routines, including dressing, meals, feeding, mobility, personal hygiene, companionship, activities, and preparing for bedtime. Hospice professionals also visit the home and provide additional services.
Live-In Benefits & Advancement
The selected trainee receives a private bedroom, meals, hands-on instruction, and a structured advancement opportunity:
- First 90 days: $600/month training stipend private room meals
- Next 6 months: $1,500/month room and meals after successful training and advancement in responsibilities
- Professional development: Employer-paid First Aid, CPR, and planned training toward RCFE Administrator certification
- Future RCFE Administrator: Planned $3000/month room and meals, combining residential assistance with supervisory and administrative responsibilities as the home becomes licensed and expands; Optional Independent position at $4400/month plus bonus.
The long-term vision is to convert this six-bedroom home into a small licensed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). The person joining now has an opportunity to learn from the beginning and potentially grow into a leadership position as additional residents and staff are added.
Typical Routine
The resident generally begins her day around 9:45 a.m. Assistance includes preparing breakfast according to an established menu, meals and feeding, personal routines, companionship, and activities.
She normally rests from approximately 2:00–5:00 p.m., creating a substantial break in the afternoon. Evening routines generally conclude around 7:30–8:00 p.m.
The regular arrangement is Sunday through Friday. Another person normally covers Saturdays. Voluntary Saturday assignments, when available, pay $20/hour. Additional compensation is provided when occasional overnight responsibilities are needed during my travel.
