Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee financial operations across multiple companies owned by the same individual. This role requires strong financial leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-entity accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring strategic insight, hands-on expertise, and the ability to streamline financial processes across diverse business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and manage the accounting function for several related businesses.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for each entity, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Consolidate financials across companies to provide a comprehensive view of overall performance.
- Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to strengthen financial operations.
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning for each company.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and all financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and external reporting with third-party accountants.
Cross-Company Support & Collaboration
- Work directly with leadership teams across all entities to understand financial needs and provide insights.
- Analyze financial performance and prepare reports that support strategic decision-making.
- Standardize accounting processes and systems across companies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Strategic & Operational Responsibilities
- Monitor financial risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to the owner.
- Assist with business growth strategies, including new ventures, mergers, or transitions.
- Provide oversight on cost management, financial planning, and operational improvements.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff (if applicable), ensuring high performance and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; multi-entity experience a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work across diverse business environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information clearly to leadership.
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
