Tube & Sheet Laser Operator – Weekend Shift

Location: Jefferson, Iowa | On-Site

Pay: $25 - $29/hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours

• Friday, Saturday, Sunday
• 5:00 AM to 6:30 PM

A well-established manufacturing and fabrication company in the Jefferson, Iowa area is seeking a dependable Tube & Sheet Operator to support their Weekend team.

This position is primarily responsible for set-up and operation of a CNC tube & sheet laser cutting machines to produce products meeting customer quality requirements. Operators must also operate and process parts according to print part no. and destination requirements. Operators must monitor machine cutting performance and utilization.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Job Duties)

• Perform typical laser cutting operations.
• Select proper cutting programs, and proper fixtures.
• Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
• Make proper set-ups for cutting operations.
• Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
• Perform all dimensional inspections.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor.
• May perform a variety of other tasks as production needs require.
• Operates a forklift

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

• Previous MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred
• Graduates of an accredited welding or technical program are encouraged to apply
• Ability to pass a hands-on weld test during the interview process
• Welding certifications is a plus, but not required
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications preferred
• Experience working with structural steel or heavy fabrication is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Basic forklift experience is a plus
• Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement

Physical & Work Environment

This position requires working in an active manufacturing and fabrication environment. Employees regularly stand for extended periods, use their hands to handle tools and materials, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift throughout the workday.

• Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 70 pounds
• Occasionally lift materials up to 100 pounds (team lifting is expected when appropriate)
• Work around moving machinery, fabrication equipment, and powered industrial vehicles
• Exposure to moderate shop noise, vibration, and changing production conditions
• Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding hood, gloves, hearing protection, and safety glasses
• Requires close attention to detail and the ability to safely perform physically demanding work throughout the shift
