Overview
Kat's Kitchen is looking for Prep Cooks to collaborate with new ownership to evolve its legacy. The Prep Cooks will collaborate closely within the Culinary team to prepare and execute dishes and recipes at the highest level while supporting the collective standards and culture of the kitchen. This role requires focus and consistency, with an emphasis on teamwork.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and Chef direction.
- Wash, chop, portion, and organize ingredients for daily service.
- Keep prep stations clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Label, date, and properly store all food items.
- Help receive and organize deliveries.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and organization.
- Support the Line Cooks and Chef team throughout prep and service.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Support teammates and other stations as needed to ensure smooth and cohesive service.
- Participate in daily setup, breakdown, and cleaning procedures.
- Contribute positively to a focused, respectful kitchen culture rooted in shared responsibility.
- Assist with additional kitchen tasks or projects as needed.
Who You Are

- Previous prep cook or kitchen experience preferred.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
Health & Safety
- Solid understanding of professional kitchen standards and expectations.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes and prep procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional under pressure.
- Commitment to food safety, sanitation, and proper knife handling.
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment.
- Must have or obtain a California Food Handler’s Certification.
Work Environment
- Involves standing and walking for the entire shift.
- Involves frequent reaching, bending, lifting, and repetitive food preparation tasks.
- Involves lifting, moving, and carrying 25–50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with rotating tasks.
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour plus tip pooling.
