Kasten's Dog Training, a reputable, family-owned facility in Bristol, Indiana, has been a cornerstone of the local pet community for 20 years. We specialize in pet dog training, behavioral modification, doggie daycare, and boarding services.

We are actively expanding our professional dog training team and seeking a dedicated, skilled, and passionate individual to join us. This role offers a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, including leading group classes, managing private lessons, assisting in our popular puppy programs, and working with complex behavioral cases, including aggression.

Key Responsibilities

As a Professional Dog Trainer, you will:

  • Lead Group Lessons: Take ownership of our group class curriculum, bringing fresh ideas and directing KDT group lessons from planning to execution.
  • Conduct Private Sessions: Perform evaluations, follow-up lessons, and private training sessions (both in-person and virtually/by phone).
  • Behavioral Modification: Work directly with reactive dogs and those presenting complex behavioral issues, including dog-dog and dog-human aggression cases.
  • Training & Assessment: Train all dogs using our established methodologies and tools; continually assess each dog's progress in the facility.
  • Program Support: Assist with our highly regarded puppy preschool programs and help manage daily doggie daycare activities.
  • Curriculum Development: Prepare lesson plans, create/update demonstration materials, client packets, training videos, and informational resources.
  • Kennel Care Support: Assist with essential kennel care and facility duties as needs arise.
  • Professional Development: Continuously educate yourself on dog behavior science, new training methods, and industry tools.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with teammates, pet owners, and management.

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Experience (Required): Minimum of 2 years of verifiable professional dog training, behavioral modification, and handling experience.
  • Teaching Experience (Required): Proven experience leading or teaching group classes and conducting private lessons.
  • Behavioral Experience (Required): Prior experience working with reactive dogs, dog-dog aggression, and dog-human aggression cases.
  • Physical Stamina (Required): The ability to be on your feet for 8 hours per day, walk up to 10 miles daily, and lift 40 pounds.
  • Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of dog behavior, body language, and various training techniques.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Logistics: Basic computer knowledge and a valid driver's license.
  • Location: Ability to commute to and work in Bristol, IN Relocation to the area is required before starting work.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (Five 8-hour shifts).
  • Availability: Must be available to work peak traffic times, including weekdays and weekends. Shifts may consist of morning, afternoon, and evening hours.
  • Example Schedule: Sunday-Monday-Tuesday working afternoon/evening shift; Wednesday-Thursday working morning shift; Friday-Saturday off.
  • Work Location: In person at our Bristol, IN facility.
