Job Description
Mechanical Engineer supporting Drivetrain Forging and Casting Team. This role will support a Team Lead responsible for clutch housing designs across a wide variety of CAT products. The successful candidate will be involved in concept modeling, CREO stress analysis, coordinating detailing with outside teams, reviewing PPAPs, design assessments, and reviewing deviations. This position requires a collaborative team player who is eager to take on challenging work and shows initiative and capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Team Lead in clutch housing designs.
- Perform concept modeling and CREO stress analysis.
- Coordinate detailing with external teams.
- Review PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process).
- Conduct design assessments and review deviations on non-conforming materials.
- Prepare first pass design material as directed by the Team Lead.
- Run light Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using the CREO simulate tool.
- Travel to the Decatur plant as needed to support manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical component design.
- Proficiency in CREO or similar CAD software.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with castings and clutch or axle housings.
- Design of rotating components
