Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Quality Technician to ensure our railcar manufacturing processes meet stringent quality standards. This role involves significant time on the shop floor, collaborating with the VP of Quality and shop floor personnel to maintain and enhance our quality systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Spend significant time on the shop floor, working closely with the VP of Quality and production teams.
  • Maintain and update the Kasgro Quality Manual and AAR (American Association of Railroad) Vendors list.
  • Manage AAR-related activities, including railcar tracking, M1003 audits, car repair billing, and repair estimates.
  • Schedule and track employee quality training programs.
  • Prepare and manage monthly reports, including:
  • Welder continuity and certifications.
  • Welding procedure updates.
  • Welder test inspections.
  • Brake test reports (Form 36, Form 6-A).
  • Oversee annual shop calibrations (track scale, temperature guns, weld machines).
  • Coordinate railcar movement in and out of the shop.
  • Maintain materials documentation (steel and weld wire certifications, product data sheets).
  • Track and manage shop travelers and customer-required quality documents.
  • Ensure proper calibration of welding and testing equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and the Director of Quality on projects.
  • Independently manage assigned projects and support team initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Auditor or Quality Technician (preferred).
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing with welding; Certified Weld Inspector certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) preferred; training provided if needed.
  • Familiarity with rail industry standards and AAR rules is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (e.g., data analysis, report generation, advanced formulas).
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
