What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support Technician II position at Karr Technology Solutions?
We are seeking a skilled IT Technician (Tier II) with hands-on network cabling and infrastructure experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and experience working both in-office and on-site to support users, systems, and network environments.
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years IT support experience, preferably more.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier II technical support for desktops, servers, network devices, and applications.
- Perform installation, termination, and testing of network cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber).
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including network connectivity and performance problems.
- Configure and maintain switches, routers, access points, and firewalls.
- Support end users remotely and on-site, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
- Document all work performed, including service tickets, network diagrams, and configurations.
- Assist in maintaining and upgrading IT systems, including Windows servers and Active Directory.
- Maintain compliance with IT policies, security standards, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 years of experience in IT support or a similar role (Tier II level preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
- Demonstrated experience with structured cabling installation, patch panels, and network racks.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in various physical environments (crawl spaces, ceilings, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
