Job Overview
Join the Karma Kreamery team as a Small-Batch Ice Cream Production Assistant! This hands-on role is at the heart of how we make our ice cream — small-batch, made from scratch, and rooted in Afghan, Desi, and Middle Eastern flavor traditions like saffron, rose, cardamom, and kulfi. You'll help bring our recipes to life while keeping our kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards. This is a great opportunity to get real, hands-on experience in food production within a close-knit, community-rooted small business — not a big industrial line, but a kitchen where your attention to detail and care actually shapes the final product.
Duties
Assist in preparing and producing small-batch ice cream according to our recipes and quality standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including batch freezers, mixers, and dipping cabinets, and flag any equipment issues right away. Follow sanitation protocols to keep prep areas, equipment, and utensils clean and compliant with food safety best practices. Pack and store finished product carefully to preserve quality and consistency. Use personal protective equipment properly during all production tasks. Help track inventory by logging production batches and monitoring raw ingredient supply. Safely handle lifting and moving ingredients or finished product as needed. Collaborate on developing and testing new flavor ideas rooted in our cultural flavor profiles.
Requirements
Prior kitchen or food service experience is required. Comfort with or willingness to learn basic food safety practices (sanitation, proper food handling, safe storage). Ability to follow recipes precisely while also bringing creative input to new flavor development. Comfort operating small-scale kitchen equipment, with a willingness to learn anything unfamiliar. Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, lifting moderately heavy items, and repetitive motions like scooping and packing. Reliable, detail-oriented, and excited about food and flavor — especially if you're curious about Afghan, Desi, or Middle Eastern ingredients.
