Warehouse Supervisor
Reports To: Warehouse & Logistics Manager
Location: Monticello, MN
Position Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day warehouse operations at a single manufacturing facility. This role oversees receiving, inventory accuracy, warehouse personnel, material movement, and shipping activities while ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate execution.
The Warehouse Supervisor serves as the on-site leader for warehouse operations, ensuring materials are available to support production, customer orders are shipped accurately and on time, and inventory integrity is maintained through disciplined processes and effective use of the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys developing employees, solving operational problems, improving warehouse processes, and driving accountability.
Primary Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Supervise all daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, inventory movement, replenishment, picking, staging, and shipping.
- Lead warehouse associates to safely and efficiently execute daily operations.
- Ensure warehouse organization, cleanliness, and compliance with food safety requirements.
- Balance labor resources to meet production and shipping demands.
- Monitor workflow and remove operational bottlenecks.
- Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained and safely operated.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse employees.
- Schedule daily staffing to support operational requirements.
- Train new employees on warehouse procedures and WMS processes.
- Conduct performance coaching and provide regular employee feedback.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and safety-focused work environment.
Inventory Management
Support inventory accuracy by:
- Maintaining accurate inventory transactions.
- Executing daily cycle counts.
- Investigating inventory discrepancies.
- Performing root cause analysis on inventory variances.
- Supporting annual physical inventories.
- Maintaining FIFO/FEFO inventory rotation.
- Ensuring proper lot control and traceability.
Warehouse Management System (WMS)
Utilize the Warehouse Management System to:
- Execute warehouse transactions accurately.
- Ensure barcode scanning compliance.
- Maintain location accuracy.
- Identify system issues and work with the Warehouse & Logistics Manager to improve workflows.
- Train employees on proper WMS procedures.
- Follow standard operating procedures for all warehouse transactions.
Receiving Operations
Oversee daily receiving activities including:
- Raw ingredients
- Packaging materials
- Maintenance supplies
- Vendor deliveries
Ensure:
- Accurate receiving documentation
- Timely material put-away
- Proper lot identification
- Inventory visibility
- Coordination with Quality for inspections when required
Shipping Operations
- Coordinate daily customer shipments.
- Ensure orders are picked accurately and shipped on schedule.
- Verify shipping documentation.
- Work with Customer Service and Production to resolve shipping issues.
- Coordinate carrier loading and dock scheduling.
- Monitor shipping accuracy and on-time performance.
Internal Material Movement
Coordinate movement of materials throughout the facility by:
- Supplying production with required materials.
- Managing finished goods transfers to storage.
- Replenishing warehouse locations.
- Supporting transfers between company facilities.
- Maintaining accurate inventory transactions throughout material movement.
Safety & Food Safety
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, SQF, GMP, FDA, and company safety policies.
- Conduct daily safety observations.
- Ensure employees follow safe work practices.
- Participate in safety investigations and corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean and audit-ready warehouse.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Participate in warehouse improvement projects.
- Support implementation of new technologies and warehouse procedures.
- Drive standardization and operational consistency.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree or equivalent warehouse leadership experience.
- Five or more years of warehouse experience.
- Two or more years of supervisory experience.
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Strong inventory control knowledge.
- Experience leading warehouse employees.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse technology.
Preferred
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Experience in an SQF, FDA, or USDA regulated environment.
- Experience with barcode scanning systems.
- ERP experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Operate forklifts and powered industrial equipment.
- Work in warehouse and production environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to bend, climb, reach, and perform physical warehouse duties as needed.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
