What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli Associate position at Karl’s Country Market?
What You'll Do
- Slice deli meats and cheeses to order, following food safety and portion guidelines
- Prepare fresh food items for the deli case, including salads, sandwiches, and daily specials
- Stock, rotate, and merchandise deli and bakery cases to keep them full and appealing
- Assist with bakery items — stocking, packaging, and maintaining freshness standards
- Greet and serve customers at the deli counter, answering questions and taking orders
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with health codes
- Support general store operations and teammates as needed
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Experience or comfort with slicing meats/cheeses (training provided)
- Willingness to learn food prep and bakery tasks
- Comfortable stocking and rotating product
- Friendly, customer-first attitude
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25-40 lbs
- Reliable and able to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends
Preferred:
- Prior deli, bakery, or grocery experience
- Food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain one)
