Karesh at Beechwood LTC is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to add to our outstanding activities team. Must be enthusiastic, outgoing and able to work with a team of professionals. This individual will coordinate and lead recreational, social, spiritual, intellectual and emotional programs for residents. The Life Enrichment assistant coordinates with the Activity team to prepare and execute programs that engage residents based on their interests. Candidates with experience working with seniors is preferred. Musical, artistic, recreational, computer and electronic communications skill will all be integrated in the position and experience is a big plus. Every other weekend, some evenings, and some holidays are required. May be required to drive a 14-passenger van.

Provides a monthly calendar of activities that engages residents of all levels of care.
Welcomes new residents and interviews them for activities interests and history.
Manage budget for rehab and LTC households, staying within guidelines.
Maintains activity supplies on households in a neat and orderly fashion.
Provides a supportive and caring atmosphere for residents and their families, volunteers, and visitors.
Publishes program schedule via newsletter articles, cable system and bulletin boards.
Organizes activities and outings in coordination with the rest of the activity and dietary teams.
Must respect electronic privacy requirements of residents.
PURPOSE:
The Life Enrichment Assistant shall assist The Life Enrichment Director in the responsibilities for developing and maintaining a program of activities designed to promote the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
WORKING HOURS: 80 hours bi-weekly. Schedule includes every other weekend, some evenings and some holidays as needed,

HIPAA MINUMUM NECESSARY:
Responsible to adhere to HIPAA MINUMUM NECESSARY guidelines and safeguard protected health information.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Life Enrichment Assistant shall be responsible for assisting the Life Enrichment Director in the overall operation of the Activity Department according to department policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an educational background sufficient to carry out a quality program as designated by the Life Enrichment Director. Must be of good moral character and in good mental and physical condition. Must have tact, patience, empathy, understanding and a willingness to work with residents regardless of their current level of functioning. Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions, have good oral and written communication skills, and show sound judgment and creative abilities. Must have an understanding of the physiological changes and resulting needs of the aging population.
DUTIES:
Assist with assessing residents as assigned within 14 days of admission and prior to the initial plan of care meeting to determine background and programming needs and report to the AD in a timely manner.
Attend and contribute to resident plan of care conferences and other staff meetings as scheduled by the Life Enrichment director.
Assist the director as requested to design, post and maintain attractive timely calendars of scheduled activities.
Assist with pre-activity announcements as needed.
Assist in offering 1:1 activities regularly to those who are unable or unwilling to participate in scheduled activities.
Conduct group activities as assigned by the director. Assist residents to and from activities.
Provide opportunities for residents to participate in activities in the surrounding community.
Keep accurate attendance and participation records of each activity responsible for and evaluate the program for effectiveness and degree of resident involvement regularly, and report to the LED in a timely manner.
Assist in the maintenance of the work area, equipment and supplies, including inventorying materials.
Promote good public relations within and outside the facility.
Deliver and assist residents with personal mail on request.
Participate in on-going education and in-service training for the department and general staff.
Network with other Activity personnel through active participation in professional organizations, read journals and publications and keep up with new developments, regulations and program ideas.Contribute/maintain newsletter and internal cable channel
Document accurately, and in a timely manner, progress made by residents assigned, keeping all documentation current.Assist with the Residents’ Council as requested.Participate in on-going education and in-service training for the department and general staff.Participate in budgetary planning for the program and record all financial transactions accurately. Contribute to and maintain good public relations through newspaper, radio, television, and a facility newsletter. Plan, recruit, schedule and maintain an active volunteer program in coordination with director.
