Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Martial Arts Instructor/School Manager to lead our martial arts program and oversee daily operations at our fitness and activity center. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in martial arts, teaching, and management, with a passion for fostering a positive environment for students of all ages. This role involves instructing martial arts classes, managing staff and schedules, ensuring safety standards, and promoting the growth of our martial arts community.
Duties
- Lead and instruct martial arts classes including Karate, Judo, and other disciplines, tailoring lessons to various skill levels and age groups.
- Manage the daily operations of the martial arts school, including scheduling classes, maintaining equipment, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Oversee student progress and behavior management to create a safe, respectful, and motivating environment.
- Train and supervise assistant instructors and staff to uphold teaching standards and safety protocols.
- Develop new programs or workshops to attract new students and retain current members.
- Coordinate with other departments such as childcare or health clubs to integrate programs effectively.
- Promote the martial arts program through community outreach, events, and social media initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to physical activity, including first aid readiness and emergency procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in martial arts disciplines such as Karate, Judo, or similar styles; background in sports coaching or physical education is preferred.
- Prior experience working with students of diverse ages in a teaching or coaching capacity.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing staff or instructors.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to foster discipline and positive conduct among students.
- Background in teaching physical activities such as swimming (lifeguard experience), cheerleading, climbing, basketball, or gym activities is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate students and collaborate with parents or guardians.
- Childcare experience is a plus for working with younger students.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans tailored to individual needs while maintaining safety standards.
- Relevant certifications in martial arts instruction, lifeguarding, or coaching are desirable but not mandatory.
