Management Responsibilities
The Controller is responsible for directing all financial and accounting functions while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organizational objectives. This role leads the accounting and finance team, upholds company policies and internal controls, and acts as a strategic partner to other departments. Additionally, the Controller manages external financial partners and oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit-related activities.
Key Duties:
- Lead and mentor the accounting and finance teams to ensure effective operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and compliance with company policies.
- Identify, assess and manage financial risks that impact the company.
- Oversee preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Review and analyze financial statements, research discrepancies, and prepare consolidated reports.
- Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements (including 10-Q and 10-K), and other regulatory standards.
- Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, including audits and external reporting.
- Lead management’s self-assessment of internal controls to support management certification on internal controls within the COSO framework.
- Supervise accounting for revenue recognition, inventory, debt, and equity-based compensation.
- Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance and accuracy, including staying updated on new accounting standards and determining appropriate accounting treatment for non-routine, complex transactions
- Deliver financial insights to support investment decisions, pricing strategies, and contract evaluations.
- Manage and coach the accounting and finance team with members across multiple locations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- 7–11 years of progressive experience, including 3–5 years in a management capacity and 6–11 years in public accounting at a national firm.
- Experience working within a publicly traded company is required.
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, including ASC 606, ASC 718, and ASC 842.
- Proven experience in financial consolidation and SEC reporting.
