Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 11-7 Resident Care Assistant (RCA) to join our dynamic caregiving team. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to promote independence and well-being.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to ensure health stability.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while maintaining strict compliance with safety standards.
- Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or memory impairments through personalized activities and behavior management techniques.
- Support residents during meal preparation and feeding to ensure proper nutrition while respecting individual dietary needs.
- Utilize assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents with mobility challenges.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties in resident rooms and common areas.
- Document all care activities thoroughly in resident records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by applying first aid procedures when necessary and coordinating with emergency services if required.
- Foster positive social interactions by engaging residents in recreational activities and providing emotional support to enhance their quality of life.
- Support residents’ participation in community outings or home & community care activities when scheduled.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care tailored to each resident’s needs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, personal care homes, or group homes.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s support strategies, and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to assist with ADLs confidently while maintaining respect for resident dignity.
- Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring and medication administration protocols.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes.
- Valid certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to assisted living or home & community care are a plus.
- Ability to operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate attitude toward residents’ diverse needs.
