Paralegal I

The Paralegal I position will support the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure within the financial services industry working alongside senior management. The Paralegal I will be expected to operate in various capacities including legal, compliance, and corporate administration. The ideal candidate must be energetic, detail oriented, work well under deadlines, and adaptive.What you will do:Draft, review and file legal documents such as motions, complaints, and affidavitsUpdate defendants with all notices regarding a specific caseWork with the Collections department on drafting, reviewing and distributing settlement agreementsReview TLO reports and confirm accuracy within Platform databaseIdentify eligible and suitable merchants for pursuit, funding, and bankruptcy efforts and collaborate with other departments to determine funding eligibility from businesses' financial standingManage new information, track litigation activities, and address any ad-hoc activities or settlementsPrepare legal documents, such as subpoenas, and correctly file and distribute to outside counsel and other stakeholders.What we're looking for:Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Paralegal Studies or equivalent experience required; paralegal certificate preferred but not requiredMinimum 3 years administrative experienceExperience drafting legal documentsExperience in bankruptcy matters a plusExperience with UCC filings, drafting corporate resolutions, responding to discovery, checking corporate status, and maintaining corporate status for entities to determine asset, ownership and business statusExperience in bankruptcy matters a plusAdditional Required Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Pacer, and E-Courts (NYSCEF and other similar systems)Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgementDemonstrated ability to organize and prioritize projects and complete multiple tasks on scheduleAble to work productively under minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environmentProactive team player able to work efficiently during periods of ambiguityAbility to work effectively with colleagues at all levels across the organizationHighly organized, precise, proactive, and capable of shifting attention quickly and accurately from one matter to anotherPersonable and capable of developing and maintaining effective working relationshipsExcellent verbal, written, and communication skillsStrong sense of accountability and attention to detailKapitus Total Rewards Package Includes:Competitive Base Salary Range of $45,600 - $70,400 Kapitus is providing this as a good faith salary range to comply with applicable law.
