Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Controller based in Salina, KS. The Controller oversees the accounting department, ensuring alignment with the
Business Office's goals and assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). It involves overseeing
financial transactions, producing accurate financial reports, and supporting the team while
meeting strategic and tactical objectives. lt involves overseeing financial operations, including budgets, and accounting transactions. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing compliance with financial regulations, monitoring cash flow, and creating financial strategies. The Controller will collaborate with leadership, provide financial analysis, and contribute to the university’s fiscal planning and growth.
Qualifications
- Expertise in financial management practices, including budgets, cash flow management, and audits
- Proficiency in financial analysis, accounting principles, and preparation of financial statements
- Strong understanding of compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
- Proficiency in using financial software and systems for budgeting and accounting
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with experience collaborating across teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or similar certification preferred)
- Experience in nonprofit or higher education financial management is a plus
