About This Role:
The Vice President for Administration and Finance reports directly to the President (with a dotted- line relationship to the Provost and Executive Vice-President) and serves as a collaborative executive leader and member of the President's Cabinet. The VPAF ensures overall fiduciary integrity of the university, institutional effectiveness, and provides insights regarding financing, policies, long term planning, financial sustainability, research accounting, operations, resourcing, and the accomplishment of the university's mission and goals. This role provides leadership, strategic planning, coordination, and management of the following functions of the university: campus planning and project management, facilities services and building maintenance, risk management and compliance oversight, internal audit, environmental health and safety, financial operations, contract management, financial reporting, parking services, campus police, and public safety. This position ensures that campus facilities meet the needs of the university and community and that environmental health and safety are promoted and maintained within available resources. The position is responsible for the leadership, planning, coordination, and management of the Division of Financial Services (includes tracking and reporting of research expenditures), the University Budget Office staff, Administrative Support Center, Internal Audit, Division of Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Parking Services, Campus Police, and Risk and Compliance. This position has a significant role in representing the university to the Kansas Board of Regents, the state legislature, and the community.

What You'll Need to Succeed:Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a master's degree and 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Five years progressively responsible financial and administrative experience in a large and complex organization.
Demonstrated ability to lead, initiate, or facilitate change, and be adaptable with changing conditions, challenges, and opportunities of a large public university.
Strategic and forward thinking. Evidence of strategic visioning and leadership, with successful outcomes, that demonstrate the ability to assess risk, drive/recommend strategic investment strategies even in the face of limited resources, execute ambitious investment and allocation strategies, and help the organization's leadership team realize a bold vision.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in written form, with demonstrated ability to translate complex financial matters into usable formats for decision-making, policy analysis, and reporting.
Excellent leadership and management skills with the capacity to work and communicate productively with multiple stakeholders and perspectives and to collaborate to address complex issues.
Demonstrated record of successful supervisory experience and leading teams.
Demonstrated history of successful collaboration and partnerships, leading to tangible and strategic outcomes.
Demonstrated commitment to customer services and a proven track record of quality and integrity.
Knowledge of and commitment to affirmative action and equal employment opportunity.
