About us
Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission is a small business in Mulvane, KS. Our goal is to to ensure that gambling at facilities with state owned casino games and pari-mutuel racetrack gambling is conducted with integrity. As a regulatory agency, our chief mission is to seek compliance. As a criminal justice agency, our charge is to enforce the law. We take these responsibilities seriously, and we require our licensees do as well. The KRGC is currently responsible for the regulation of the Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City, the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City and the Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel in Pittsburg. .
Responsibilities:
- Monitors gaming activity by developing informants and observing gaming activities and gaming employees. Conducts on-site investigations and inspections of electronic gaming devices and other gaming equipment. Observes authorized and unauthorized individuals in the different areas of the facility. Conducts on-site internal control audits and compliance inspections and investigations. Coordinates criminal investigations and undercover investigations. Meets with gaming regulators to coordinate enforcement activities and training.
- Conducts background investigations including credit and criminal history records checks on applicants for licensure, utilizing interviewing and interrogation techniques that include reviewing financial statements and analyzing financial positions of individuals. Drafts report regarding said background investigations. Investigates complaints of alleged violations of the Expanded Lottery Act, regulatory violations and criminal violations.
- Drafts reports to document and communicate investigative findings by assembling information gained through investigations and interviews. Makes arrests, appears and testifies as a witness in court or at hearings.
- Makes arrests, conducts searches and seizures and generally enforces all Kansas criminal laws. Works with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies where crimes have occurred to coordinate investigations and prosecution in individual jurisdictions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, the Director of Security and other KRGC managers and supervisors.

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Licensing & Certification:
- Valid Driver’s License
Minimum Qualifications:
- NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age. Must complete a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission and obtain certification as a law enforcement officer from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission before being given permanent status. At time of appointment, candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services and be required to pass a physical and psychological exam administered by the hiring agency. This position requires the use of a firearm for law enforcement duties and therefore, candidates cannot have been convicted of, and must be free of any diversions from, a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C. § 922 (d) (9) and (g) (9)
- Must be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age.
- The successful candidate must be able to pass an extensive background investigation and polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of criminal investigative experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer within the past five years.
- Certified law enforcement officer credentials in good standing with CPOST.
