ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs a broad range of laboratory procedures on a variety of biological specimens and/or environmental samples using manual or automated techniques, following practices and regulations governing biosafety and biosecurity in the workplace. In addition, performs advanced and complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles
• Develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results ensuring all laboratory regulatory requirements are met
• Maintains and documents the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment.  Identifies unusual results or abnormalities, correlates laboratory data with diagnosis; identifies discrepancies and takes prompt, appropriate action to assure accuracy
• Performs and documents quality control and assurance activities and corrective actions related to test performance using statistical principles and theories of performance improvement
• Communicates effectively and courteously while working as a healthcare team member. Provides excellent service as defined by the customer (healthcare providers, patients, and others). Gives direction and guidance using underlying principles of laboratory testing
• Organizes work and sets priorities to meet deadlines

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION

• Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
• Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred
• Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor degree or Associates degree in medical laboratory science or related science or education qualifications as stated per CLIA requirements.
