SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer and direct calls to the appropriate department and/or person; take messages electronically as needed.
Scan and file patient related information electronically ensuring accessibility and maintaining a current patient record.
Sort, retrieve and deliver all incoming and outgoing correspondence for internal customers, utilizing the master patient index or EMR for identifying all patient related correspondence.
Maintain list of employees who are out on attendance board and page physicians and staff as directed; contact hospitals and the Physician’s Exchange with call schedule information and changes
Communicate problems and act as a liaison to inform management and phone company of phone system problems; act as gate-keeper of the back entrance area.
Perform miscellaneous clerical tasks as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or GED equivalent.
1 year PBX/multi-line phone experience, health care arena preferred
Excellent telephone etiquette
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and work independently
Proficiency with Windows based applications
Ability to speak clearly and in an easily understood manner
Ability to actively listen and comprehend callers’ requests
