What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Receptionist position at Kansas Heart Hospital?
The Mission: To be the calm, welcoming, and organized "anchor" for every patient and visitor who walks through our doors.
The Role
At Kansas Heart Hospital, the patient experience starts with you. As our Receptionist, you are the first impression of our hospital. You aren’t just answering phones; you are navigating patients through their journey, supporting our clinical teams, and ensuring that every person who enters—whether a world-class surgeon or a nervous family member—feels seen, heard, and helped.
What You’ll Do (The Highlights)
Command Grand Central: Manage the hospital’s switchboard with speed and precision, ensuring every caller reaches their destination without a hitch.
Elevate the Arrival: Greet every patient, visitor, and vendor with genuine warmth. You’re the one who turns a stressful hospital visit into a seamless experience.
Patient Advocacy: Track patient arrivals in real-time. If someone has been waiting longer than 30 minutes, you’re the hero who steps in, communicates with the department, and keeps the patient informed.
Logistics Ninja: From paging doctors and managing daily charge sheets to handling deliveries and coordinating outgoing mail, you keep the "business" side of the hospital humming.
Hospitality Ambassador: You’ll be the one delivering flowers to rooms, forwarding cards to discharged patients, and pointing weary visitors toward a much-needed cup of coffee in our café.
Business Support: When the lobby is quiet, you’ll flex your skills by assisting the Business Office with payments, receipts, and special projects.
What You Bring to the Team
The Personality: You’re outgoing, empathetic, and possess a "how can I help?" attitude.
The Brains: High School Diploma required; previous experience in a professional reception or medical setting is a major plus.
The Skills: You’re a multi-tasking pro who is comfortable with Excel and hungry to learn our internal systems.
The Calm: You can handle a ringing phone, a waiting vendor, and a patient question all at once—without losing your smile.
