What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Analyst, Engineering Support position at Kansas Gas Service?
What You Will Do
Assist in providing technical support to engineering and construction departments.
Utilize drafting computer and hand draw information including but not limited to:
- Engineering drawings
- Highway/railroad crossing permits
- Right of way drawings
- Pipeline alignment/site/profile drawings
- Maps
- Property plats
Provide support to coordination of gas construction with commercial and industrial customers.
Assist in preparation of estimates for construction and maintenance of new and existing gas distribution systems.
Create and maintain databases of site plans, CAD drawings and maps, and various other document sets.
Utilize surveying and measuring equipment to locate property markers, easements, and right of ways.
Provide information and assistance to customers, contractors, public works officials, employees and others concerning construction activity, job orders, billings and other related issues.
Compile, and prepare information, reports, and correspondence including but not limited to (as assigned to position):
- Capital job/work orders
- Letters and memos to customers and employees
- Legal descriptions for land measurement
- New service requests
- Preparation of data for Stoner modeling (as assigned to position)
- Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting
- Inventory of assets (Transmission and Distribution)
- Leak repair data (Transmission and Distribution)
Maintain and update various types of documentation for Regulatory Compliance functions
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
Use drafting tools and office equipment applicable to position.
Knowledge of Stoner Modeling application.
Working knowledge and training related to:
- Pipe, mechanical, and architectural drawing
- Computer assisted drafting (CAD) systems
- English usage and spelling
- Neat/legible lettering
- Drawing on job orders, completion reports, and related information
- Microsoft Office applications (as assigned)
Read, interpret, and prepare written information including but not limited to:
- Material lists
- Right-of-way information
- Maps
- Blueprints
- Legal descriptions
- Government regulations
- Gas rate schedules
- Building codes
- State and Federal Regulations (including DOT)
- Spreadsheets containing numerical data
Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of decimals and percentages. Application of trigonometric and geometric formulas.
Experience drawing, posting, and plotting maps, atlas pages, plats, legal descriptions, and diagrams.
Read and write fluently in English.
Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 2 3 times a week; up to 30 pounds 3 4 times a month.
Stationary for extended periods.
Fine motor skills to draw minute details.
Operate tools and equipment required.
Communicate and exchange information and instructions; conduct oral presentations and meetings.
Visual abilities to perform job responsibilities.
