Position Summary
Kansas Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Project Coordinator to support estimating, pre-construction, and project execution teams. This role will support the full lifecycle of industrial and commercial electrical projects.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction Support:
- Assist estimators with takeoffs, vendor pricing, and bid documents.
- Refine pre-construction process standards (bid files, drawings, specifications, etc.).
- Assist with preparing proposals, scope summaries, and pre-construction schedules.
- Discern bidder requirements (commercial and technical terms/conditions) for bidding evaluation
- Evaluate technical drawings and specifications for potential projects alignment with company strategy
Project Execution Support:
- Support project setup and onboarding (both internal and external processes)
- Assist with submittals, material procurement, and tracking logs.
- Maintain project updates throughout the duration of the project (inception through closeout)
- Assist with project analysis (budgets, schedules, etc.)
- Coordinate delivery of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Support creation of RFIs, change orders, and cost tracking.
- Assist with permits, utility coordination, and documentation tracking.
- Prepare closeout documents, O&M manuals, and warranty records.
Qualifications
- Experience in the industrial or commercial construction industry (field and/or office roles)
- Experience with electrical design, construction, and project management/coordination.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting complex plans, specifications, and electrical schematics.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal and external coordination, leading complex conversations with vendors, sub-contracts, team members and community members.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Proficiency with estimating software (McCormick preferred), ERP software (Acumatica preferred); and other construction software tools like Bluebeam, etc.
- Strong understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code), construction sequencing, and industry best practices.
- Electrical estimating experience with a focus on commercial and industrial construction.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related advanced field experience
- Experience with design-build or design-assist projects.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and controls
