About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Control Panel Builder to join our growing automation team. This position is ideal for someone who has basic electrical and mechanical aptitude and wants to build a career in industrial automation and control systems. You’ll learn to assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels that comply with UL 508A standards and support a variety of automation and process control applications. Additionally, you will work with an experienced team of automation engineers to build and continuously develop your professional skills in industrial and commercial controls.
Compensation Range $18-22/hour benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and wiring UL 508A-certified control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Mount components such as circuit breakers, relays, terminal blocks, VFDs, PLCs, and power supplies.
- Perform wire routing, labeling, crimping, and termination according to company and UL standards.
- Support quality checks and functional testing of completed panels.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
- Keep work areas organized, safe, and compliant with safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure projects meet schedule and quality goals.
- Participate in ongoing training and development related to electrical assembly, controls, and automation technologies.
- Maintain automation department inventory processes.
- Assist with automation projects.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational coursework preferred).
- Basic understanding of electrical components and wiring.
- Ability to read simple diagrams or willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety procedures.
Preferred:
- 0–2 years’ experience in a panel shop, electrical assembly, or industrial wiring environment.
- Familiarity with UL 508A and NFPA 70 (NEC).
- Experience using basic hand tools, wire strippers, drills, and measuring instruments.
- Technical school certificate or associate degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, or Mechatronics.
