What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Fellowship position at Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation?
The Kansas City Sports Commission (www.sportkc.org) is a privately funded, nonprofit organization which works to fulfill the mission to enhance the quality of life and economic success of Greater Kansas City by taking the lead in maintaining and selectively acquiring a diversity of amateur and professional sporting events; to collaborate with area economic development and agencies to attract and retain amateur and professional sports organizations; and to promote the lifetime benefits of sports for the citizens of Greater Kansas City.
The Kansas City Sports Commission is seeking a graduate student, postgraduate, or professional looking to deepen their expertise. As a Fellow, this individual will take part in various professional development opportunities throughout the term to develop skills critical to future career growth. Some of the events that the Fellow will have the opportunity to contribute towards are listed below.

· Garmin Kansas City Marathon
· NCAA DII Fall Festival
· WIN for KC - Women’s Sports Awards
· Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments
· NCAA DI Men's Basketball Midwest Regional
· Hospital Hill Run
This individual will be able to:
- Support for all events throughout the year.
· Support events by assisting with the planning, operations, and day of execution.
· This could include but is not limited to volunteer management (recruitment, communication, scheduling), set-up and tear down, working with external stakeholders, run of show, and internal/external communication for all events.
- Support for the Marketing and Corporate & Community Relations teams
· Support the management and allocation of marketing and sales assets.
· This could include but is not limited to assistance in developing overall email communications strategy including scheduling and drafting communication, updating sponsor presentations, sponsor event recaps, social media posts and assistance with on-site partnership activations.
- Provide organizational support by assisting with administrative tasks.
· Support the management of multiple boards and committees, management and organization of consumer/participant data and general office management duties.
Fellowship Duration
· August 2026 – July 2027
Program Hours
· Approximately 35hr/week, some nights, weekends and/or holidays dependent on event schedule
Perks
· $2,500.00 in a monthly stipend for the purpose of assisting with living costs and/or travel costs (not considered compensation for services rendered).
· Free garage parking at our downtown office location for duration of fellowship.
· On-site gym with wellness classes including yoga, spin/cycle, etc.
· Flexible schedule, including opportunity for remote tasks.
· $50 cell phone stipend per month.
