Summary
Lead the day-to-day operations of our Database Environments. Responsibilities include backup/recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, planning, analysis, troubleshooting, access control, integration, installation, upgrades, patching, configuration, operations, and maintenance of the database systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as a team lead in providing technical and theoretical database support for COTS (Commercial off the shelf) and custom applications: Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL
- Work with business partners, developers, data analysts, & security analysts
- Creating and maintaining database standards and policies in accordance with technology and security standards
- Supporting database design, creation, and testing, backup, archiving, and storage activities
- Managing the database availability and performance, including incident and problem management
- Define and implementing event triggers that will alert on potential database performance or integrity issues.
- Monitoring usage, transactions, response times, concurrency levels and Performing database housekeeping, such as tuning, indexing, etc.
- Evaluates new and future data technologies and releases and analyzes and tests new releases/versions of software in order to determine a rollout schedule, technical compatibility and integration issues.
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or Physical Science with a minimum of 24 semester hours of computer-related courses, or two additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Experienced professional with preferably more than 7 years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
- Experience hosting databases in a cloud environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Demonstrated experience in serving as a Technical Lead in support of projects.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Linux operating systems
- General knowledge of Cyber Security design requirements.
