Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse provides direct health care services to employees and participates in health and safety promotion. This nurse is responsible for medical treatment of injuries in the work environment and can maintain, protect, and preserve the health of employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat occupational injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
- Respond to on-site medical emergencies, provide CPR and first aid.
- Assist physician(s) in physical examination and treatment of employees.
- Actively participate in the prevention of occupational injuries and illness, and in the maintenance of a healthy workforce.
- Provide health education.
- Assist in meeting OSHA and DOE standards.
- Perform audiograms, pulmonary function tests, EKGs, phlebotomy, vision tests, and urine collections.
- Evaluate employees returning to work after an illness or injury.
- Administer vaccinations.
- Arrange for the purchase of pharmaceutical and medical supplies and for the evaluation of new equipment prior to purchase.
- Inspect medical facility for safety, cleanliness, and adequate preparedness to meet daily activities and common medical emergencies.
- Participate in Well-Being Program initiatives.
- Serve on teams working with occupational health issues.
- Active New Mexico State Nursing License as a Registered Nurse.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
- United States Citizenship.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to provide effective customer service.
- Occupational health experience.
- Current Basic Life Support BLScertification.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
