Job Purpose

The Range Aid assists with the range set-up and clean-up, motorcycle transport, and garage maintenance during (MSF) Rider Education classes. The Range Aid works alongside the Rider Coach and prepares the motorcycle range with the appropriate and necessary supplies and equipment for riding exercises. At the end of the class, the Range Aid will perform necessary and essential closing duties. This is a continuous position. Application materials for this position are accepted on an on-going basis due to the increasing demand for courses in this subject area.

 

Position Description

  • The Range Aide works closely with the Motorcycle Rider Coaches during the two days of riding exercises on the motorcycle training range for Rider Education courses.
  • The Range Aide will arrive one hour before class to ferry the Rider Coaches on the program’s golf cart from range to the motorcycle storage area.
  • Ensure range supplies are on the motorcycle range at the beginning class.
  • The Range aide assists with the setup of the course (various exercises that the students must ride) per the Range Aide manual. At the end of the class, Range Aide will make sure that all range supplies are returned to the motorcycle storage area and will assist the Rider Coaches with getting the motorcycles into a secured area.
  • Responsible for maintaining impeccable safety standards. Additional responsibilities include maintaining efficient and effective operations of all areas under his/her direction and control.
  • Performs varied and responsible duties requiring a familiarity with school operations, a thorough understanding of MSF regulations and the exercise of judgment and initiative in completing tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work during evenings and on weekends, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and/or Education

  • Current and Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education

  • Basic Rider Course graduate.
  • Current and Valid Motorcycle License.
  • GED or High School Diploma.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 

Work Schedule

Weekends only. Up to 10 hours per weekend or maximum 16 hours per weekend. You may not exceed 630 working hours in a calendar year. Rider Education season runs March to November with a mandatory training at the end of February each year. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. Your appointment is contingent on enough enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
