JOB SUMMARY:Kansas City Christian School seeks a caring, highly qualified Lower Elementary (K–2) Teacher with a strong foundation in Science of Reading practices and systematic phonics instruction. The ideal candidate will create a warm, developmentally appropriate, and structured classroom that supports early literacy, foundational math skills, and spiritual growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Instruction & Curriculum DeliveryPlan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to K–2 standards.Provide explicit, systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension using Science of Reading principles.Integrate Biblical truth throughout all subject areas and daily routines.Use multisensory and differentiated instructional practices to support all students.Build strong foundations in early math concepts through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.Classroom Environment & ManagementEstablish a nurturing, structured classroom that reflects Christ-centered values.Use positive behavior supports and developmentally appropriate expectations.Foster a safe, inclusive community where young children feel known, loved, and encouraged to explore and grow.Assessment & Progress MonitoringUse formative and summative assessments to monitor and report student progress.Conduct regular early literacy screeners and phonics assessments; adjust instruction based on data.Maintain accurate records and communicate progress clearly with parents and guardians.Collaboration & Professional GrowthCollaborate with a grade-level team to enhance student learning.Participate actively in professional development—especially in literacy, early childhood practices, and schoolwide initiatives.Model the mission, vision, and core values of Kansas City Christian School.Student Support & Christian FormationIdentify learning needs early and provide targeted interventions or accommodations.Encourage spiritual growth through classroom devotions, Scripture integration, and modeling Christlike character.Support students’ social-emotional development and peer relationships. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education (required).Current state teaching license or ACSI certification (required).Training or experience in the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and systematic phonics instruction (preferred).Experience teaching K–2 learners or early childhood (preferred).Strong Christian faith and active participation in a local evangelical church, can provide reference.Excellent communication and rapport with young children and families.Ability to integrate faith into academics and daily routines in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.
