Assistant Athletics Director of Development

Position Summary:

The Assistant AD – Development is responsible for generating philanthropic support for Kansas Athletics. This individual will focus on identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective major gift donors with an emphasis on gifts of $50,000 or more. Additionally, this position will manage a portfolio of 100 leadership and annual gift donors with the goal of increasing their support for the top funding priorities of the department.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Position:

 

  • Work directly with the Deputy AD/VP – Development to develop an annual major gift solicitation plan, including specific identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies;

 

  • Assist in the coordination, preparation, and development of major gift proposals;

 

  • Manage a portfolio consisting of major gift and leadership annual giving donors;

 

  • Meet and/or exceed annual quantifiable goals related to visits, asks and commitments secured;

 

  • Timely document meaningful conversations through contact reports in Ascend/Salesforce;

 

  • Utilize donor software programs such as Paciolan, Ascend, Salesforce, Fanbase and FanThreeSixty to help identify new leadership annual and major gift leads;

 

  • Collaborate with KU Endowment and Alumni Association regarding prospect list development, research, and solicitation of major gifts;

 

  • Assist in the execution of cultivation and stewardship strategies, including assisting in the planning and execution of events and other initiatives specific to major gift donors and prospects;    

 

  • Attend Kansas Athletic events, including home football, men’s and women’s basketball and all other sports and events as necessary;

 

  • Engage with peer institutions to review policies, discuss strategies and best practices specific to major gifts; 

 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or their designee.

 

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to:  cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position may require frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 25 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; and working in all weather conditions.

 

 

Travel

Regular travel will occur with this position.

 

 

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position. Early morning, evening and weekend work maybe required.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in development or closely related field, preference for intercollegiate athletic experience;
  • Experience with annual and major giving campaigns;
  • Effective communication, organizational and administrative skills;
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills; both verbal and written;
  • Must be self-motivated, well organized and demonstrate an ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.);
  • Ability to work well both independently and in collaboration with staff as a team member;
  • Ability and willingness to work long hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed;
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Salary : $50,000
