Qualifications
- Associate’s degree/ Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition or Family and Consumer Science or similar field is a plus.
- Five years’ experience in a K-12 setting is preferred.
- Hold or be willing to earn ServSafe Certification.
- Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Possess an advanced level of proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Office.
- Have the ability to communicate and deal positively and effectively with others.
- Must feel confident and comfortable with public speaking.
- Possess the ability to develop and present PowerPoint presentations.
- Must feel confident working with technology and ability to grasp new software in the SN Central Office.

Essential Functions
The position is responsible for a variety of administrative work in the development and implementation of the school district’s School Nutrition program. The person would provide support to the KCS Director of School Nutrition Program. This person would assist the SN Director with technical, administrative, human resources, and SN operations work. The person would assist the director in the development, implementation, and oversight of the policies and procedures that govern the school district’s School Nutrition program.
This position is responsible for site based training of all School Nutrition Food Production Records and other software programs as well as working with Linq Nutrition.
This position requires a strong knowledge of computers and information technology skills. Candidate must have strong communications skills both written and orally as well as the ability to handle difficult employees. This candidate must be able to communicate effectively to all SN Cafeteria managers and employees when federal and state regulations are not being followed. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is a self- starter and problem solver. The candidate will need to have strong communication skills and a team minded approach/mindset to ensure goals of the program are met.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Information Technology Support
- Assists in ensuring all School Nutrition software programs (Linq Nutrition) are operating in all schools and School Nutrition Central Office;
- Identifies problems and determines solutions with software vendors to ensure efficient operation;
- Conducts monthly Direct Certification and imports data into Linq Nutrition
- Eligibility Software; Understands how to use PowerSchool/Infinite Campus or SIS and can navigate student information as it relates to the POS system;
- Trains school nutrition personnel on new and existing POS software programs;
- Maintains all specification of nutritional analysis software and performs bi-annual menu analysis as directed by the School Nutrition Director
- Monitors day to day electronic food production record (FPR) for accuracy and compliance all schools; and
- Maintains and updates KCS School Nutrition website, menu postings and nutritional analysis of all items;
Human Resource Support
- Performs/coordinates interviews for current vacancies and works with the School;
- Nutrition Director for input for all new hires to the HR department;
- Assists with onboarding of new employees and trains new and existing employees of HACCP requirements;
- Assists SN Director with annual departmental trainings for new and existing employees;
- Provides ongoing training for new and existing employees on various topics;
- Assists SN Director with planning staff development activities;
- Identifies staffing problems and works with managers regarding possible solutions;
- Attends district level hiring events/opportunities to attract new employees for cafeteria positions;
- Some evening hours are required for this position as it relates to employee hiring events;
- Coordinates movement of floater positions to fill day to day staffing levels;
- Assists with front desk rotational coverage when needed by HR
USDA Program Compliance and Financial Management Support
- Maintains accuracy and compliance of all Food Safety HACCP Binders to ensure day to day compliance regs are met;
- Conducts required USDA/NCDPI annual on-site audits of each cafeteria operation to ensure compliance w/ state and federal regulations;
- Ensures that all employees are following USDA HACCP regulations by being present in the cafeterias as directed by the SN Director;
- Maintains current HACCP Binders as required by USDA;
- Audits and verifies that all USDA standards operating under the National School Breakfast, National School Lunch Program, After School Snack Program, and the Summer Nutrition Program (SFSP) are met and are in compliance at all site locations within KCS;
- Trains managers and all SN employees on how to complete necessary daily, weekly, monthly reports;
- Completes monthly Direct Certification requirements and imports correctly the information into Infinite Campus and existing LINQ platform;
- Assists with completing annual CEP Report to NCDPI and works with NCDPI auditor during reviews;
- Monitors compliance of state and federal regulations in SFSP (Summer Food Service Program);
- Follows up on sanitation, health and safety reports; Reports any issues to SN Director and works w/ Director of Operations to find solutions to problems;
- Enforces use of HACCP standardized recipes and assist SN Director in developing new HACCP recipes;
- Maintains specifications in nutrition software- NutriKid, Linq Nutrition (Titan);
- Works w/ Cabarrus County Maintenance on all equipment work orders that need repair;
- Assists School Nutrition Director with preparing small and large equipment bids;
- Maintains accurate documentation of Micro Purchases, Emergency Purchases and RFQ purchases as required by NCDPI;
- Attends all required NC DPI Policy Update meetings as well as state meetings as required by the SN Director;
- Assists in maintaining accurate inventory records of all food and supplies in Linq Nutrition Inventory module; and
- Works with NC Dept of Agriculture and other state agencies with regard to the National School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program and SFSP;
- Conducts several audits throughout the school year to ensure all locations are in compliance with state and federal standards as directed by the SN Director;
- Responsible for training new and existing employees on electronic food production records. This is an ongoing requirement; and
- Other tasks as directed by the SN Director
Wellness/Public Relations Support
- Markets and promotes school nutrition program as directed by the SN Director;
- Maintains and updates school nutrition website as directed by the SN Director; and
- Assists SN Director in maintaining the required Triennial Wellness Assessment.
