JOB GOAL:
To assist teachers in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students with behavior or
academic challenges. This position is also responsible for monitoring, redirecting and modifying student
progress regarding inappropriate behaviors and academic performance. Must administer intensive
behavior intervention programs to identified students when needed.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
? Must work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure student success
? Knowledge of, and ability to implement, behavior management techniques and academic interventions
? Understanding of how to use MAC/CHAMPS, MTSS, and the Pyramid Model for behavior intervention systems
? Knowledge of academic intervention techniques to enhance student performance
? Works with Instructional Coaches to plan for intervention needs
? Ability to monitor and observe student behavior according to approved policies and procedures
? Ability to develop rapport and interact effectively with students
? Ability to handle emotionally charged situations
? Ability to interact and collaborate with staff, students and families in a professional manner
? Supports classroom teachers as needed
? Work with students from multiple classrooms to ensure academic success

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):
1. Assists in providing instruction to behaviorally or academically challenged individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
2. Actively participates in behavior intervention meetings and professional development.
3. Collect data and records anecdotal student academic progress notes.
4. Communicates effectively, both written and oral with students, administration, staff and co-workers.
5. Assists students in developing self-help and self-advocacy skills as directed.
6. Assists in implementing specialized student plans (IEP, BIP, 504,) as needed.
7. Helps implement classroom management system as applicable Daily Progress Report (DPR).
8. Exercise respect and collaboration when interacting with students, staff, and visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
? Holds an Associate's Degree or Paraprofessional Certificate
? Experience working with applicable age students who have behavior and/or academic challenges
? Experience working with students with special needs
? Successful experience working in an intervention setting as well as the classroom preferred
? Experience working with applicable age students who have behavior and/or academic challenges
