Position Overview
The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and energetic professional to serve as an Operations & Events Coordinator. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both behind-the-scenes administrative work and the fast-paced environment of event planning and execution. The role supports daily office operations while playing a key part in the coordination and success of Chamber events.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Operations Support
- Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)
- Prepare and process invoices
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) for membership dues and event invoices, including tracking, follow-up, and reporting
- Assist with mailings, including member communications, event invitations, and billing
- Support general office operations and day-to-day workflow efficiencies
- Provide administrative support to Chamber staff as needed
Event Coordination
- Assist in planning and execution of Chamber events, including networking events, luncheons, and annual programs
- Support sponsorship outreach and solicitation efforts
- Coordinate event logistics such as seating assignments, catering orders, décor, and supplies
- Assist in developing and maintaining event budgets
- Work collaboratively with vendors, venues, and volunteers
- Provide on-site event support, including setup, registration, and breakdown
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience planning and executing events
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Quickbooks is a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable interacting with Chamber members, sponsors, and community stakeholders
- Prior experience in administrative support and/or event planning preferred
Work Environment & Schedule
- Part-time position, 25–30 hours per week
- Flexible schedule with occasional early mornings, evenings, or event-based hours required
