A major manufacturer is adding a Controls Technician to its Charlotte team. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and commissioning a wide range of industrial electrical control systems that keep high-speed converting and packaging lines running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Work On
• Diagnose and repair electrical control devices, including AC/DC drives, servos, motors, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, power supplies, switches, and sensors
• Install, maintain, and commission controls hardware across production lines
• Download, modify, and back up PLC/HMI programs
• Partner with operators, maintenance techs, and engineering to remove bottlenecks and improve flow
• Support emergency repairs and scheduled shutdown/startup activities
• Maintain documentation, drawings, electrical schematics, and software archives
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve safety, and enhance system reliability
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• 3–5 years programming PLCs and HMIs (Rockwell and/or Siemens strongly preferred)
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Automation Direct platforms
• Strong electrical theory knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting capability
• Ability to interpret schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams
• Familiarity with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, etc.)
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around high-speed machinery
• Ability to work independently and participate in on-call rotation
