Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Freight Business Development Manager to join our logistics team as Vice President of Business Development. The ideal candidate will have their own book of business which they can bring with them. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within the transportation and supply chain management sectors. Compensation will depend on book of business and experience.
Duties
- Obtain new customers for the business.
- Manage customer relationships by providing exceptional service and support throughout the shipping process.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments, manage inventory, and optimize routing.
- Collaborate with inside sales teams to negotiate freight rates and terms with carriers.
- Oversee account management activities, ensuring all client needs are met efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Assist in supply chain management efforts by coordinating with various departments to streamline operations.
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining service quality.
Experience
- Proven experience in customer relationship management and account management is preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems and software applications relevant to logistics operations.
- Background in sales or inside sales roles is advantageous, particularly within the transportation or supply chain sectors.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and carriers alike.
- A solid understanding of supply chain management principles will be beneficial for success in this role.
