Description The Kane County Department of Finance is seeking a Payroll Clerk. The Payroll Clerk will work under the supervision of the Payroll Manager.
The Payroll Clerk will assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, maintain employee information in the payroll system, scan and file documents.
The Payroll Clerk must maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, and must be willing to assist with all duties in the daily administration of the Payroll Department.
Essential duties include : Assist with preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll for 1,500 employees; enter new hires, terminations, pay rates, withholdings, deductions, etc.
- review and post all eSuite employee data changes; assist with hours entry review and make adjustments as needed; assist with maintaining and auditing paid time off accruals;
- process all Sheriff outside detail payments; provide employment verifications; update outside agencies with address and name changes;
- maintain payroll statistics, LOA entries, per pay period files, etc.; complete Social Security number verification for new hires;
- comply with County policies and union bargaining agreements impacting payroll procedures; perform payroll filing, scanning, and shredding;
and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements : Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s degree or the equivalent in accounting, finance or business and 1 to 3 years of in-house payroll experience.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred. Essential qualities include ability to maintain confidential information, possess strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, exhibit excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills, and demonstrate intermediate skills in Excel and Word.
New World Systems software experience and union and public sector experience is desirable.
