The License Bureau Clerk performs clerical work of moderate difficulty, issues appropriate licenses, receives/processes forms and applications, including legal documentation, collects monies, records transactions and prepares appropriate reports in a manner which will effectively and efficiently serve the public and ensure proper functioning of the License Bureau. Assists with problem solving and reporting under the supervision of the License Bureau Chief.Wages Effective January 1, 2024: $51,407 - $71,913.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Issues appropriate forms, assists in completion, collects fees, etc. for driver’s license applications or renewal, including verification of authenticity of documents presented for Real ID’s and Enhanced Drivers Licenses.Processes applications for titles, duplicate titles, personalized plates, odometer statements, reconstruction, inspections, duplicate plates and lien release forms at the point of sale, then collects the appropriate fees for each transaction. Issues appropriate plates, stickers, permits and receipts for each transaction, including change of classes and correct weight changes for truck classes. Processes and verifies all automotive dealer work submitted to this office.Processes and issues appropriate applications and stickers for boats, snowmobiles and off-the-road vehicles. Collects appropriate fees. Completes data entry for all motor vehicle and driver’s license applications accurately, at the Point of Sale. Reconciles all records pertaining to the registration/licensing function and prepares required daily reports.Answers questions from the public, whether on the telephone or in person, while maintaining state mandated Data Privacy Rules and regulations. Performs related work as apparent or assigned by License Bureau Chief.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of computer, printer, copier, calculator and other office equipment.Ability to work well with supervisors, other department employees and the public.Ability to enter high volume of data using a keyboard with accuracy. Ability to work independently in performing routine tasks.Ability to use tact and maintain patience and courtesy in dealing with the public and others in a high-volume work environment.Ability to answer the phone with proper etiquette and to obtain/deliver information with discretion and confidentiality.Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged standing.Ability to communicate effectively.
