What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Navigator position at KANAWHA COUNTY PUBLIC DEFENDER OFFICE?
Overview
The Kanawha County Public Defender Office has an immediate opening for a parental and juvenile case navigator who will help clients and their families navigate the complexities of the court system. The case navigator will work closely with counsel to provide support and advocacy for adult clients whose criminal charges may result in parallel civil abuse and neglect proceedings, as well as children in juvenile proceedings whose parents may be subject to DHHR investigations. Responsibilities include communicating with clients and their families, and helping clients (and, where appropriate, their parents or guardians) to comply with any court directives which will improve the outcome of their criminal, status, or delinquency proceedings. Further responsibilities may include attending multidisciplinary team meetings and court hearings and assisting with identifying and applying for appropriate services. This position is funded through SSA Title IV funds and will continue contingent on ongoing funding.
Qualifications:
Required- Highschool diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with necessary registration and insurance
Preferred- degree in social work or similar field, and/ or relevant experience
