Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled, safety‑focused Pesticide Applicator to join our team. This role is responsible for the safe and effective application of pesticides, herbicides, and related treatments across residential, commercial, and specialty environments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers using approved methods and calibrated equipment.
- Mix and prepare chemical solutions according to label instructions and regulatory standards.
- Conduct site inspections to identify pest issues and recommend appropriate treatment strategies.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot application equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, application dates, weather conditions, and treatment areas.
- Communicate with clients and property owners regarding treatment plans, safety guidelines, and re‑entry intervals.
- Monitor treated areas for effectiveness and perform follow‑up applications as needed.
- Store, transport, and dispose of chemicals in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; coursework in horticulture, agriculture, or environmental science preferred.
- Valid state pesticide applicator license or certification (or ability to obtain).
- 1–2 years of experience in pesticide application or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of pest biology, chemical safety, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Ability to read and interpret pesticide labels, SDS sheets, and regulatory documentation.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of pesticide types, formulations, and application techniques
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and documentation requirements
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment operation and maintenance
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Effective time management and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
- Ability to safely handle, mix, and apply chemical products while using required PPE.
- Ability to operate equipment such as backpack sprayers, spreaders, and motorized application tools.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to chemicals, fumes, and outdoor environmental elements.
- Required use of PPE including gloves, respirators, eye protection, and protective clothing.
- Seasonal variations in work hours depending on weather and workload.
