What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Probate and Trust Administration Attorney position at Kaminski Law Group APC?
We are seeking an experienced Trust Administration & Probate Attorney to step in immediately and take ownership of an active, ongoing caseload. This is a temporary role, around 6 months, designed for a seasoned practitioner who can seamlessly transition into the practice, manage files independently from day one, and deliver high-quality legal work without requiring extensive onboarding or supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Caseload Management: Immediately assume management of active trust administration and probate matters, ensuring all deadlines and client commitments are met.
Pleadings & Filings: Prepare, review, and file probate petitions, inventories, accountings, notices, and proposed orders in compliance with local court rules.
Client & Fiduciary Guidance: Advise trustees, personal representatives (executors), and beneficiaries regarding estate administration steps, tax considerations, and fiduciary obligations.
Asset Distribution: Oversee asset marshalling, valuation, debt clearance, and final trust/estate distributions.
Court Appearances: Represent clients at probate court hearings and conferences as needed.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with in-house paralegals and legal assistants to keep files moving efficiently.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bar Admission: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active license to practice law in good standing in California.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated trust administration and probate law experience.
Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently, prioritize heavy workloads, and make sound strategic decisions without ramp-up time.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with probate court electronic filing systems and practice management software.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a compassionate yet professional client-facing presence.
