Job Overview
Kamerer Veterinary Service is looking for the right person to fill the role of veterinary technician. In this role, you will assist Dr. Kamerer in delivering high-quality medical services, support pet owners with compassionate communication, and ensure the well-being of small and large animals. This practice is a low-stress work environment that offers a 4 day work week, with no weekends or on-call.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarian during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
- Prepare and maintain medical equipment, including radiology devices, anesthesia machines, and laboratory tools, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately while monitoring animal responses during anesthesia.
- Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic testing to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software, documenting treatments, procedures, and client communications clearly and thoroughly.
Skills
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and surgical assistance techniques.
- Skilled in dental terminology, dental procedures, and aseptic techniques to support oral health treatments.
- Knowledge of veterinary anesthesia monitoring, general anesthesia administration, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Experience operating medical equipment such as X-ray machines, diagnostic radiology tools, and laboratory analyzers.
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely across various species including dogs, cats, horses, and other small animals.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners about treatments and care plans effectively.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
